More About Geothermal Heat Pumps: How They Work

In Michigan, the temperature of the earth remains a consistent 50 to 55 degrees year-round just a few feet underground.  Geo thermal heat pumps are designed to take advantage of this constant energy source and use it to provide heating in the winter and cooling in the summer. 

During the winter, the earth's heat is absorbed by a loop system.  The heat is then compressed to a warmer temperature by the geothermal furnace, giving you a warm and comfortable home with great efficiency.

During the summer, the flow is is reversed.  Warmth from the home goes into the geothermal furnace, makes its way through the cooler earth, and is absorbed.  This process uses the very same loop system, now giving you a comfortably cool home.
