SPRING AHEAD WITH AC MAINTENANCE

Raise your hand if you are ready to put winter firmly in the rearview mirror. Got it, mine is raised too … way up high. Yes, we are all ready to spring ahead and move on to warmer weather. But before we ramp up for spring and then summer, it’s always a good idea to inspect your home – inside and out – and compile a spring checklist.

This can include many chores and projects, but a good place to start is with your home’s HVAC system. Western Michigan winters are hard on HVAC systems, and your friends at Mast Heating & Cooling recommend a thorough spring checkup and air conditioning maintenance. Give us a call today and our Holland, MI air conditioning professionals will check out every aspect of your home’s air conditioner. This will include checking and replacing filters, dusting off and cleaning the equipment, and checking refrigerant levels. In the event that a HVAC replacement is recommended, we are proud to offer a full line of Trane heating and cooling systems and can provide you with a comprehensive new system installation estimate. We will also make sure the command center for your system, the thermostat, is working properly. And don’t forget indoor air quality (IAQ). Our pros will test your home’s IAQ and, if need be, provide you with information about our line of indoor air quality solutions, including humidifiers, UV lights and electric air scrubbers.

Mast Heating & Cooling is also the premier marine HVACR company for the Holland and Western Michigan lakeshore areas. We can handle boat HVACR tune-ups. Mast Heating & Cooling also offers ice makers by Uline, refrigerators/freezers by Nova Kool and Adler Barbour, and marine HVAC systems by MarineAir and Dometic.

Once you get all the HVAC maintenance covered, here is a quick spring checklist we think might come in helpful:

INSIDE

  • Check your smoke and carbon monoxide detector batteries. A great way to remember to do this is replace the batteries whenever you set your clocks ahead in the spring.
  • Clean out your kitchen and bathroom cabinets. You will be amazed at how much stuff is outdated and/or unusable.
  • Clean the clothes dryer vent and make sure it is exhausting free and clear.
  • Thoroughly dust everything, including countertops and on top and behind appliances and furniture.

OUTSIDE

  • Wash windows and repair or replace torn screens.
  • Inspect the exterior siding of your home and roof for damage. Touch up peeling paint and replace any worn, damaged or wood-rotted siding.
  • Clean out gutters and downspouts and make sure outdoor water spigots and hose bibs are in good working order.
  • Clean up lawn furniture and get your mowers, trimmers and other outdoor tools and equipment ready.
